About the Dentists
Dr. Melissa Waters, D.D.S.
Dr. Melissa Waters was born and raised in the small town of Hastings, Nebraska. After graduating from high school and having a desire to work in healthcare, she attended Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska to pursue her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She gained valuable experience working as a nurse for several years, specifically working in pediatrics, before deciding ultimately that dentistry was her true calling. She then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated with honors in 2010.
Having a passion for the field of pediatrics, she was selected into the pediatric residency program at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. During her residency, she underwent extensive training in restorative dentistry, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia. The majority of her training was done at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where she gained invaluable experience treating many different children, including those with special needs and medically compromised conditions.
After graduating from residency, she worked in the DFW area for many years before she and her family decided to try out beach life! They moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she practiced several more years before deciding, ultimately, that their hearts where back in Texas! She and her husband Joe have 3 small children, Lucianna, Liam and Leo, who are all excited to be a part of the Flower Mound community!
Practicing with compassion, understanding of a child’s unique dental needs, and communication is paramount to establishing a beautiful patient/parent/doctor relationship while providing the highest quality of care.
These qualities are what Dr. Waters builds her practice on every single day, also while having fun and creating a light-hearted environment for families. Being a mother herself of 3 small children, she creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all her patients, and feels the greatest satisfaction is when a child overcomes apprehension of the dental environment and becomes a child who loves coming and learning about their teeth!
