All of our dental assistants are certified RDA's (registered dental assistants) with the State of Texas. Our two full time assistants are also state-certified to do nitrous oxide monitoring and coronal polishing. All of the clinical staff at Dental Care 4 Kids are CPR certified and undergo continuing education classes annually to keep up with the latest in clinical and pediatric dentistry. |
Thank you for visiting our web site! We are honored that you may be bringing your child to our practice for their dental health needs. We pride ourselves on creating a fun and positive environment for your child's dental care. We are happy to see patients from the age of 1 year to college-age, and our dentists are trained in the special needs of children with or without disabilities and health concerns.
Our office provides WiFi for parents who would like to bring their laptops. We also have Playstation 2's and XBoxes for the kids.
Our office is different because WE WELCOME PARENTS INTO OUR EXAM ROOM AND TREATMENT ROOMS, YOUR CHILD DOESN'T GO BACK WITHOUT YOU! We only ask that you be an observer and not interfere with the doctor's interaction with your child. Our main focus is the care of your child, so everything will be explained to your child in terms that they can understand. We encourage any questions that you might have regarding your child's dental health.
Our office meets or exceeds all OSHA, CDC and ADA recommendations regarding infection control. All of our instruments are sterilized or disposable, and all of our hand-pieces are autoclaved (steam sterilized) for your child's protection.
We take pride in providing digital radiography, which decreases the amount of radiation exposure for the patients and allows the parents to be able to see the images on our chairside computers.
Cavities do occur, but our office tries to make the dental restorative experience as pleasant as possible for your child. Both, Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Wickersham, are licensed by the State of Texas to perform enteral (oral) and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation in the office. We also have a dental anesthesiologist that comes to our office at least once a month to perform IV sedations. Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Wickersham also provide dental treatment in the OR under general anesthetic at Texas Pediatric Surgery Center in North Richland Hills.
We file most insurance plans upon verification that they will pay us directly, but we are NOT contracted with any insurance companies nor are we a participating provider in any insurance plans. We will be happy to verify the patient’s insurance coverage if we have the complete insurance information at least 2 business days prior to the patient’s appointment. The parent or insured should contact their insurance company to verify that their children don’t have to see particular providers. Since we are not contracted with any insurance plans, the insured will be responsible for the difference between our fees and what the insurance company reimburses. Most insurance companies will gives us a percentage ESTIMATE of the insured patient’s coverage when we contact them. There is a maximum dollar amount for each dental procedure that the insurance company will pay. Unfortunately, most insurance companies will not tell us this maximum amount, but they call this the “usual and customary fee”. We do our best to estimate the patient’s insurance benefits, but any balance left on the account after the insurance company has paid is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. We understand that dental insurance can be quite confusing, so please ask our staff if you have further questions. Unfortunately, we are unable to file any Delta Dental plans for payment, and we are only able to file Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans that are within the state of Texas, due to problems we have had with these plans in the past. We will ask for payment in full for these plans and we will file the insurance and assigned the benefits to be paid to the insured. We only accept the assignment of benefits from your primary insurance carrier. Once your primary carrier pays us, they will send the insured an explanation of benefits. This is the information the insured will need to submit a claim to the secondary insurance for direct reimbursement.
We do our best to properly estimate your portion at each visit and we collect this portion at the time of service. Occasionally, there may be a small balance on your account after the insurance company pays their portion. We will send you a statement for this unpaid balance after we receive the insurance payment and we are certain that the balance is owed by you. In the event that the insurance company is not sending payment in a timely manner (within 60 days of the appointment), we will request payment from the parent or guardian and the eventual insurance benefit will be forwarded to them.
The parent or guardian that brings the child for the initial visit is ultimately responsible for the final payment of services. We are not able to intervene in the matters of divorce.
We accept cash, checks, MasterCard and Visa. We also use a third party finance company called CareCredit that has extended payment plans for dental and medical services. You can apply for CareCredit online or obtain a form in our office.
If you are a new patient, for your convenience, we have provided a New Patient Health History Form for you to complete and bring with you on your first visit to our practice.
To help keep your child's records up-to-date, we have provided a Medical History Update Form that we encourage you to use when your child's medical history changes.
